How to Download Manga Fast: Chapter Ranges, Limits & CBZ Tips (2026)
#TutorialSlow or failed manga downloads almost always come from the same few causes: a range that is too big for the source site, a daily limit spent on tiny batches, or files that land in your reader in the wrong order. This guide shows how to plan chapter ranges around your limits, what actually affects speed, and how to fix a download that stalls, so a whole arc reaches your reader as clean CBZ files.
The fast workflow in 5 steps
- Open the series page (the page that lists every chapter) and copy its URL. A single chapter page is not enough.
- Paste the URL into the box on the MangaDownload.io home page.
- Pick a chapter range that fills your per-download cap (see the table below).
- Keep the default CBZ format, start the download, and keep the tab open until it finishes so the file can be saved.
- Drop the CBZ into your reader app's library folder.
New to the format? What is a CBZ file explains it in two minutes.
Plan chapter ranges around your limits
Every download has a chapter cap, and guests and free accounts also have a number of downloads per rolling 24 hours. For most readers the number of downloads runs out first, so the fastest approach is to fill each download to its cap instead of taking five chapters at a time.
| Rank | Downloads per 24 hours | Chapters per download | Most chapters in 24 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unranked (no account) | 3 | 15 | 45 |
| F-Rank (free account) | 6 | 30 | 180 |
| S-Rank | No daily limit | 100 | No daily limit |
Example: a 120-chapter series takes 8 downloads Unranked, which means three days. A free account gets it done in 4 downloads on the same day, and S-Rank in 2. When you can, split ranges at the end of an arc instead of at a round number, so each file is a complete part of the story. See the ranks for details.
What actually slows a download down
- The source site. Pages come from the site that hosts the series. When that site is busy, every download from it is slower. If a large range crawls, try again later instead of rerunning the same range right away.
- Colour and strip length. Full-colour manhwa and manhua chapters are long vertical strips and much heavier than black-and-white manga. Our manhua download guide covers why.
- Range size on a struggling site. A 30-chapter range from a slow source can stall where two 15-chapter ranges finish. Halve the range before you retry.
- Your own connection only matters at the end, when the finished file is saved to your device.
Name files so your reader sorts them correctly
Reader apps sort files by name, character by character. That puts "Ch 10" before "Ch 2" and scrambles a series. Pad chapter numbers with zeros so they sort the way you read them:
Series Name - Ch 001-015.cbzSeries Name - Ch 016-030.cbzSeries Name - Ch 031-045.cbz
Keep one folder per series. Choose CBZ unless you want to extract the images yourself, in which case ZIP is fine. Our comparison of CBZ vs CBR vs PDF covers the other formats.
Get new files into your reader quickly
- Android: point Mihon or Kotatsu at one library folder and save each new CBZ into its series subfolder. Step-by-step instructions are in our guide to the best free manga reader apps for Android.
- iPhone and iPad: save the file to the Files app, then use "Open with" to send it to Paperback or Panels.
- Windows, macOS and Linux: YACReader and similar readers watch a library folder. See the best manga readers for PC.
Troubleshooting slow or broken downloads
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The download stalls partway | The range is too large for a slow source site | Halve the range and try again later |
| You cannot start another download | Your downloads for the last 24 hours are used | Wait for the oldest download to leave the 24-hour window, or sign in for 5 a day |
| You cannot select more than 15 or 20 chapters | The per-download cap for your rank | Split the series into several ranges |
| Chapters appear out of order | File names without zero padding | Rename to 001, 002, 003 |
| A chapter has missing or broken pages | The source served a bad image | Download that chapter on its own. If it repeats, report the URL on the Contact page |
| The link is not recognised | The site is not supported or changed its layout | Send the URL through Contact with "Report Problem" selected |
Fast download FAQs
How many chapters can I download at once?
Up to 15 chapters per download without an account, 20 with a free account, and 100 at S-Rank.
Why does my manga download stall?
Usually the source site is slow and the range is large. Halve the range and try again a little later instead of repeating the same large range immediately.
Does the daily limit reset at midnight?
No. It uses a rolling 24-hour window: each download counts for 24 hours from when you started it. S-Rank has no daily limit.
Should I choose CBZ or ZIP?
CBZ, if you read in a manga or comic reader app. It is the same archive as ZIP with an extension reader apps recognise. Choose ZIP only if you want to extract the images.
Do I need an account to download manga?
No. You can download 2 times a day with up to 15 chapters each without signing in. A free account raises that to 5 downloads a day with up to 20 chapters each, and never asks for a card.
