Download Webtoon Episodes for Offline Reading (2026 Guide)

#Tutorial

"Download webtoon" means two different things. Some readers want to save episodes inside an official app for a flight. Others want real files they can keep and open anywhere. This guide covers both, explains why a vertical webtoon strip needs different handling from a manga page, and shows how to download webtoon episodes as CBZ and read them offline with no gaps between panels.

Two ways to download webtoon episodes

Official apps such as WEBTOON can save some episodes for offline reading on your phone. Which series allow it depends on the title and your region, and the saved copy opens only inside that app, on that device. The other option is saving episodes as a CBZ file on your own storage, which any comic reader can open.

If a series is published officially in your language, reading it there is how the creator gets paid. Files are for keeping what you read, on your terms.

Why a webtoon episode is not a manga chapter

A manga chapter is a set of separate pages. A webtoon episode is one long vertical strip drawn for a phone screen, and most sites deliver it as a stack of tall image slices. That has three consequences when you download:

  • Order is everything. If two slices swap places, a panel is cut in half and the scene jumps. A good download keeps every slice in sequence.
  • Files are heavier. Webtoons are almost always in full colour, so an episode carries more data than a black-and-white manga chapter.
  • The reading mode matters more than the file. A page-by-page reader shows each slice as its own page, with breaks in the middle of panels. You need a continuous vertical mode.

How to download webtoon episodes as CBZ (step by step)

  1. Open the series page on a supported site (the page that lists all episodes) and copy its URL.
  2. Paste the URL into the box on the MangaDownload.io home page.
  3. The episode list appears. Most sites label episodes as chapters, so pick a chapter range. Guests can take up to 15 chapters per download, free accounts 20, and S-Rank 100.
  4. Keep the default CBZ format and start the download. Progress updates while the slices are packaged.
  5. Open the file in a reader that has a webtoon or continuous scroll mode.

Webtoon-specific tip: episode lists often include short announcement posts, such as hiatus notices or season break messages. Leave them out of your range if you only want story episodes.

Plan your downloads by season

Most webtoons run in seasons with breaks in between. Downloading one season at a time keeps each file tied to a part of the story and makes your library easy to browse later.

Take a 60-episode season as an example. As a guest (2 downloads a day, 15 chapters each) that is 4 downloads, so it takes two days. A free account (5 downloads a day, 20 chapters each) finishes it in 3 downloads, in one sitting. At S-Rank there is no daily limit and a single download holds 100 chapters. Compare the ranks if you download whole seasons often.

Name files with zero-padded numbers, for example Series Name - S1 Ep 001-015.cbz. Without the zeros, reader apps sort "Ep 10" before "Ep 2".

Reader settings that make webtoons look right

  • Switch to webtoon mode. On Android, Mihon and Kotatsu both have a dedicated webtoon reading mode that joins the slices into one strip. Set it per series so your manga keeps page mode.
  • Turn off gaps between images. If you see white lines between panels, look for a page gap or padding option and set it to zero.
  • Fit to width. Webtoons are drawn for a phone's width. Fitting to height shrinks the art to a thin column on tablets and monitors.
  • On iPhone and iPad, Paperback imports CBZ files for vertical reading.

Keep a large webtoon library manageable

  • One folder per series, one subfolder per season. Reader apps scan faster and backups stay simple.
  • Keep only the current season on your phone. Move finished seasons to a PC or cloud drive, since colour episodes fill storage quickly.
  • Stick to CBZ. One format means every device opens your library the same way. Our guide to CBZ vs CBR vs PDF explains why.

Webtoon download FAQs

Can I download episodes from the official WEBTOON app?

The app can save some episodes for offline reading, but they stay inside the app on that device. To get a file you can open in any reader or move to another device, save the episodes as CBZ.

What is the best format for webtoon downloads?

CBZ. It keeps the image slices in order at their original quality, and every major comic reader opens it. PDF splits long strips at awkward page breaks. See what is a CBZ file for details.

Why are there white gaps between panels?

Your reader is showing each image slice as a separate page, or it adds padding between images. Switch the series to webtoon or continuous scroll mode and set the page gap to zero.

How many episodes can I download at once?

Up to 15 chapters per download as a guest, 20 with a free account, and 100 at S-Rank. Guests get 2 downloads a day and free accounts 5. S-Rank has no daily limit.

Do I need internet after downloading?

No. A CBZ file on your device opens with no connection, which makes it ideal for flights, commutes, and places with weak signal.
